Larissa Babij

Translator

Larissa Babij is a Ukrainian-American writer, translator, and editor based in Ukraine since 2005. She is the managing editor of the London Ukrainian Review and a member of PEN Ukraine. Her book, A Kind of Refugee: The Story of an American Who Refused to Leave Ukraine, was published by ibidem Press in 2024. She continues to publish dispatches from wartime Ukraine on Substack and translate poetry and prose by Ukrainian defenders. Her writing and translations have appeared in The Evergreen Review, Krytyka, London Ukrainian Review, and in numerous books and journals. She holds a B.A. in Architecture from Barnard College, Columbia University and an M.A. in Cultural Studies from the National University Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
