Anastasiia Kholyavka

Head of the Urban Media Archive at the Center for Urban History in Lviv

Anastasiia Kholyavka is the head of the Urban Media Archive at the Center for Urban History in Lviv. She focuses in particular on digital tools and on private collections. She completed her postgraduate studies at the Lviv National Academy of Arts in 2018. In 2023, she was an intern at the Center for Contemporary and Digital History at the University of Luxembourg, and in 2024 she took a course in Photograph Care and ID from the Gawain Weaver Conservation Studio. She started working at the Urban Media Archive in 2020 as part of the "Un/archiving the Post/Industry" project, for which she archived private and institutional collections from eastern Ukraine. She still works on digitized collections, digitizing glass negatives and printed photographs. Her research interests include: 1940s and 1950s Soviet Ukraine souvenir photography, everyday culture, and vernacular photography.
