Małgorzata Mazurek

Małgorzata Mazurek is an associate professor of Polish Studies at Columbia University’s History department. Her interests include the history of social sciences, international development, the social history of labor and consumption in 20th century Poland, and Polish-Jewish studies. Her 2010 book Society in Waiting Lines: On Experiences of Shortages in Postwar Poland deals with the history of social inequalities under state socialism. She is currently working on a book about Michał Kalecki and Ludwik Landau, titled Instead of a Gold Mine. The Polish Origins of Global Developmentalism, which looks at the history of developmental thinking from the perspective of interwar Poland and its multi-ethnicity. In 2023 she published a piece about the notion of full employment in interwar Poland, in the American Historical Review.
