Natalia Otrishchenko
Sociologist
Natalia Otrishchenko is a researcher at the Center for Urban History of East Central Europe, in Lviv. She holds a PhD in sociology. She is an alumna of the Fulbright program and of UNET, which is administered by the Center for East European and International Studies (ZOiS) in Berlin. She was a visiting researcher at the Center for Contemporary History (ZZF) in Potsdam, the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHEES) in Paris, the Center for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH) of the University of Luxembourg, and MacEwan University in Edmonton, Canada. She edited the book "Conversations with Those Who Ask About War". Her scientific interests include the methodology and methods of sociological research, oral history, sociology of expertise, post-socialist transformations, and experiences of time during crisis.

Drawing on numerous testimonies from Ukrainians since February 2022, as well as the author’s own experiences, Natalia Otrishchenko examines how people strive to reclaim time amid war – often through simple rituals that help anchor their lives.
