Olesya Yaremchuk

Researcher and writer

Olesya Yaremchuk is a researcher and writer who focuses on intercultural dialogue in borderland regions. She is the author of Our Others, a book on national communities in Ukraine. She co-authored and co-edited Free Voices of Crimea: Stories of Crimean Journalists Imprisoned by the Kremlin. She is currently programme curator at the INDEX Institute for Documentation and Exchange, based in Lviv. From 2015 to 2017, she curated the Mike Johansen Award for Literary Reportage at the Tempora publishing house. From 2017 to 2019, she served as editor-in-chief at the Choven publishing house. In 2024, she held a fellowship at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna and the Harriman Institute at Columbia University. She is a laureate of the Samovydets competition and the LitAccent of the Year award. She was a finalist for the ADAMI Media Prize, the Lviv UNESCO City of Literature Award, and the Women in Arts Award.
