Yaroslav Solop
Photographer and art curator
Yaroslav Solop is an artist, curator, and researcher of photography, based in Kyiv. He manages cultural projects and has published research on art. He received the 2014 Ukrainian Photographer of the Year award, in the art photography category. His work involves a wide range of media forms, including graphics, staged shooting, and digital photomontage. His photographic series include: We (2006-2010), The Plastic Mythology (2011-2016), The Cold War (2016 – ongoing), The Last Haven (2017 – ongoing). Since 2017, he has been a coordinator of the Ukrainian Photographic Alternative association (UPHA). In 2016 he became a researcher in the archive of contemporary photographic heritage for the Ukrainian Photo Foundation (UPF). He edited the 2021 book UPHA Made in Ukraine, the first anthology of contemporary Ukrainian photography, covering the period 1980–2020. He is co-founder and chief editor of the BOOKSHA publishing house. He is also co-founder and curator of art projects at Ōagency, a creative studio.
